As we have three face masks in our radiant ranks, we wanted to take a minute to spell out what goes where, the differences between each, and how to get the absolute most out of all three.

After a long week of life — and the dirt, oil, pollution, and goop that comes with it — incorporating these masks into an at-home facial can help refresh skin and get rid of all that gunk. We definitely don’t want it hanging around.

Pairing your masks with other skin essentials (we’ve even taken the guesswork out with these smart sets) can truly take your glow up a notch.

What is a sheet mask?

Sheet masks are thin, pre-cut, serum-drenched sheets designed to give you magnificent skin in a few stupid, little minutes. (Ten, to be exact.) They’re the ideal preparation for makeup and sensational after a long flight or no sleep!

Our Transformazing mask is crammed with big-time brighteners: Kakadu plum extract, Tasmanian pepper leaf, and finger lime extract. And serious hydrators: niacinamide and hyadisine. Your skin is going to be glowier and brighter and juicier and less lined.

What does a barrier repair mask do?

These lush masks are made to replenish, nourish, strengthen the skin. Go-To’s version, The Repair Shop, is full of restorative vitamins, oils, and ceramides, along with hyaluronic acid and panthenol which will support your moisture barrier or repair your moisture barrier if it’s in need of some TLC (due to stress, weather changes, over exfoliation, pollution, diet, or lack of sleep).

Think of it - any barrier repair mask - like a hug in a tube no matter your skin type, age, or skin concern. They’ll rescue and soothe any face.

What does a clay mask do?

All skin types will benefit from a regular clay clear-out. But it’s doubly important for the oily and acne-prone who tend to have more trouble keeping congestion at bay.

A clay face mask, like The Removalist, is formulated with soothing minerals (kaolin clay and zinc oxide) and replenishing antioxidants to leave the skin feeling soft, calm, and clear. Use it as a gentle spot treatment on persistent pimples or as a weekly clear-out to detoxify the skin and keep it happy.

FAQs

How often should you use a face mask?

Depends on the face mask.

Apply a sheet mask whenever you want instantly glowy skin. We recommend using it before an event: Weddings! Parties! The Grammy’s!

A clay mask is something you’re going to want to slot into your routine at least once a week to give pores a real thorough clean. And as often as needed to spot treat any congestion that pops up.

A barrier repair mask is a brilliant chaser for a clay mask (putting good stuff back in after the bad stuff is drawn out). Otherwise, try and squeeze this product into your PM routine twice weekly for expertly soothed skin.

When should I use face masks in my skincare routine?

Cleanse, exfoliate (optional), and apply your chosen face mask to dry skin. Follow on with gentle, hydrating serums, oils, and a luxe moisturiser to top off this replenishing routine.

Can I use face masks if I have sensitive skin?

The Repair Shop is dermatologically tested to be suitable for sensitive skin. But we know of sensitive-skinned customers who have also had incredible results with other products from the Go-To range, including The Removalist, thanks to the super soothing properties of clay.

As with any new product you're introducing into your routine, be sure to patch test prior to using all over your face. Sensitivity levels vary for everyone.
