Hailing from the Welsh highlands (a tiny little village just outside of Wrexham which: "You'll know from Ryan Reynolds' Football Team"), our Marketing Director, Nicola, is busy working on all things brand and strategy when she’s not collecting egg cups and raising her cocker spaniel named Zinc. A true Aquarius and LED-mask truther, Nicola also has very good skin. So we decided to ask how she does it.
Your Routine In A Few Words: Slap-n-dash! I’m also someone who has to leave my skincare out to make sure I actually do the steps that I want. Also, I'm just a bit flaky with my favourite. For a few weeks, it’ll be this, then I’ll change to a few weeks of that. I need to be more consistent.
Skin Sign: Sprinter Sun, Swan Moon
Skin Type: I have sensitive skin. Just all round. It doesn't like a lot. I think it’s from some heavy tests-and-learns in my younger years, I probably did some damage. I tried everything. So, here I am now, recovering it.
Skin Concerns: Well, right now is the fact that my skin needs like three litres of water instantly but mainly redness. Redness, the fact that it is quite dehydrated, and that I just want to look bright and glowy.
Skin Goals: My goal is to be more consistent.
AM Routine
-
Normally just a splash of water, maybe Juicy Gel if I've slept in something Very Amazing Retinal or something.
-
Then Much Plumper Skin.
-
Winter is when I would add Very Luxe Face Cream in for a few months
-
Then go into SPF: Nifty Fifty Mineral.
PM Routine
-
Fancy Face and Juicy Gel.
-
I will use my Dennis Grossman LED mask pretty much every other night and that's my redness cure for sure.
I do have a weird PM routine hack: I actually like sleeping in The Repair Shop. I just sleep like this (—Nicola mimes laying on her back). But not too much of it. Just a thin layer.
Or I will just go and leave it on for like two hours. Like last night I had it on while I watched TV all night.
Skincare Advice: This is one that I need to live by, but be consistent. I can go and say that I shouldn't have done all the things I did when I was younger, but we're going to do it anyway, right? No one needs to be told. I'm not telling 20-year-old me or 15-year-old me not to do all the things I tried.
Another one: No hands on your face.
Favourite Ingredient: I think ceramides. Anything that feels like it's going to be nice to my skin, we're going to be friends.
Skincare Sin: I definitely don’t take my makeup off after a girls night.
How Has Your Routine Changed: I think I learned less is more. I'm less of a hype beast in the sense that I'm just going to try everything someone tells me to. I think mainly just keeping it simple and using things my skin likes versus what's cool. I feel that for my whole life now.
Also: All those things that your mum and your nan told you growing up about your skin are really quite true. It’s so annoying.
Where Do Your Skincare: I cleanse in the shower, because I don't really like the drips. But I do everything else at the sink.
However, while the LED’s on, I'm gonna treat the body. I sit on my bed and use Oil Over. Or I’ll potter around, maybe I'll make a cup of tea. I'll do something with the time. I'm not leaving those three minutes just to do nothing.
Why Do Your Skincare: Skincare makes you feel good. Well, it at least makes me feel good. And I feel like anything to have less makeup steps is always going to benefit me.
